These are just a few picture books (excellent for any age....you are never too old) that our library has that I have read and loved lately. It would take too long to tell you about all of the books here that I love, but I will try to tell you about some that I think are really great. :)
I'm Bored by Michael Ian Black, Illustrated by Debbie Ridpath Ohi is a fun story of a little girl trying to convince a potato just how not boring kids are.
The text is funny, and the illustrations are perfect. This book is anything but boring. This book is fun. The potato is boring.
by Neil Gaiman
, Illustrated by Adam Rex
tells the story of a little panda with a big sneeze. Will Chu sneeze at the dusty library, or the diner with so much pepper in the air? Find out. Chu is adorable and precocious. I especially love his aviator hat and goggles that he wears. This is a perfect book for young children, and older children seem to love it as well. The simple text carries the feel of Gaiman's sense of humor, and the illustrations are amazingly detailed and fun. (watch for the snail.)
If Not For The Cat
is a book of animal haiku written by Jack Prelutsky
with paintings by Ted Rand
. Guessing the names of the animals with clues in haiku form is even more fun with the beautiful illustrations to help out.
Dragons Love Tacos
by Adam Rubin, Illustrated by Daniel Salmieri is one that I just discovered this morning. Now I want tacos for dinner. I could have a dinner party for dragons, because apparently they love tacos. But not spicy salsa.
